Should I avoid talking to other artists when I'm just starting out?

Actually, not knowing many other artists is the best thing that could happen to you when you’re starting, because they can ‘poison the well.’ Instead of seeking out other artists’ opinions, just keep doing you. Focus on creating and getting feedback from potential buyers and the general public. That’s far more valuable than getting caught up in what other artists think or do.
