How important is consistency in marketing my art business?

Consistency is absolutely critical. Think of it this way: if you owned a retail gallery on Main Street paying rent, would you close the doors randomly—for three months because you’re burnt out, or only open from 12:00 to 12:30 one week because life got busy? Of course not. Your online business is no different. Artists never stop creating, even when times are tough, but marketing is always the first thing to go when life happens. This is backwards. The gallery being ‘open’ is a proxy for consistent marketing—you must show up regularly even when it’s inconvenient, when you don’t feel like it, or when life throws curveballs. Otherwise, years pass and nothing changes in your business.
