How many images should I start with when launching my art website?

Just start with one. The biggest mistake is waiting until you have ‘enough’ images, or until you know your niche, or until you have your business bank account set up. You can’t wait—you have to get started right away. Second, you’re going to be constantly adjusting anyway. There’s no magic number, and you won’t even know what works until you start marketing and getting feedback. If you start with a few categories of work and start marketing, you’ll see what gets traction. If everybody likes everything, great—keep going. If one category gets tons of action and another doesn’t, drop the low performer and highlight what’s working. But you don’t change anything until you have actual feedback from marketing. Don’t let perfectionism or waiting for more work stop you from launching.
