Why do artists keep coming back to trying to build their art business even after quitting multiple times?

There’s what I call the ‘Hotel California problem’—based on the Eagles lyric ‘you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.’ The creative gift and the desire to create never leaves you. The validation and satisfaction that comes from selling your art is something creatives continue to seek throughout their entire lives. People in their 30s through 90s regularly seek help growing their art business because this need doesn’t diminish with age. They check out many times during different seasons of life, but they always come back because they can’t stop creating and wanting recognition for that creation. This is fundamentally different from other professions—a marketing professional will gladly retire from marketing, but artists will be seeking to sell their work well into their 90s.
