I've been creating art for years but struggle with the business side and feel discouraged. I keep going in and out of trying to build a business. Is this normal?

This is absolutely normal and affects almost every creative. The vast majority of artists are excellent at creating art but struggle with marketing and business consistency. This pattern of starting and stopping is extremely common across the industry. The key is understanding that you cannot turn off your creative brain—you will be creating art for the rest of your life. Knowing this should give you a longer time horizon to actually do the marketing work you don’t want to do. The consistency is what matters, not perfection. Even in seasons when you can only dedicate an hour or two per week, maintaining that consistency without completely stopping is what separates successful art businesses from hobbyists.
