How long will I need to keep marketing my art—is there an endpoint?
Marketing questions never go away. Week 1, month 1, year 1, year 2, year 5, year 10—you’ll have questions about Facebook, Instagram, email, SEO, pricing strategy for shows, negotiating with galleries, booth setups, whether to advertise in magazines, what merchandise to sell, whether to run sales. These questions never stop for the rest of your art-selling career. This is also why artists and photographers in their 70s, 80s, 90s, and sometimes over 100 years old still show up asking ‘how do I market my work?’ You’re never going to turn off your artistic gift, never stop creating, and never stop wanting eyeballs on your art. You need to accept that and start doing things differently now, because you have potentially 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, or 70 years left to get this right.
